Precalc pushes the math chain to five terms

De Anza's path runs MATH D043H, then MATH 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D: five quarters minimum. Start the precalc prerequisite right away or the whole calculus sequence slides later.

    Watch Out

Common Mistakes for This Transfer Path

    Precalc comes before MATH 1A

De Anza requires MATH D043H, or the MATH 32 and MATH 32H and MATH D043 combination, before MATH 1A. Start that in your first quarter so the calculus sequence isn't delayed.

MGT 5 needs ACCT 1B first

De Anza's ACCT 1C covers UCSD's MGT 5, but ACCT 1C itself requires ACCT 1B or ACCT 1BH. Plan for that extra accounting course before you reach ACCT 1C.

MATH 20C takes two De Anza courses

De Anza splits UCSD's MATH 20C into MATH 1C and MATH 1D (or the honors pair). Both are needed together, so budget two quarters, not one, for that requirement.

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

What classes transfer from De Anza to UCSD business economics?

MATH 1A through 1D for calculus, ECON 2 or ECON 1 for micro or macro, and ACCT 1A with ACCT 1C for the two accounting courses. Honors versions of each are also accepted.

What doesn't De Anza cover for UCSD business economics?

ASSIST shows no De Anza match for ECON 5, MGT 16 or MGT 71. None of the three is a screening course, so they wait until after you enroll at UCSD.

What's the admit rate for UCSD business economics?

54% for 2025, across every transfer applicant to the major, not specific to De Anza. UCSD screens on MATH 20A-B, one economics course and both accounting courses, with a C- or better in each and a 2.3 GPA across them.

Does De Anza ECON 1 count for UCSD business economics?

Yes, ECON 1 at De Anza is macroeconomics and matches UCSD's ECON 3. De Anza's ECON 2 is the microeconomics match for UCSD's ECON 1; either one satisfies the requirement.
