Palomar College to UCLA
    Business Economics Transfer Plan

Palomar covers six of UCLA's eight Business Economics prep courses, and both calculus terms have an enhanced-section option. ECON 11 and ECON 41 have no Palomar match, so you'd complete them once you're at UCLA.

Unit counts change on transfer: Palomar's 5-unit MATH 140 becomes a 4-unit UCLA MATH 31A, and 3-unit ECON 102 becomes 4-unit ECON 1. Check what's finished by requirement, not by total units.

    Watch Out

Common Mistakes for This Transfer Path

    Palomar's econ numbers run backward

ECON 102 is microeconomics here and fills UCLA's ECON 1, while ECON 101 is macro and fills UCLA's ECON 2. It's the opposite of what the numbers suggest, so check before enrolling.

Both calculus terms have an enhanced option

MATH 140 or MATH 140E covers UCLA's MATH 31A, and MATH 141 or MATH 141E covers MATH 31B. The enhanced sections satisfy the same requirement as the standard ones.

    Accounting is a two-term sequence

ACCT 202 requires ACCT 201 first, so they can't be taken together. Finishing both covers UCLA's MGMT 1A and MGMT 1B financial and managerial accounting requirement.

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

What classes transfer from Palomar to UCLA for Business Economics?

ECON 102 and ECON 101 cover UCLA's ECON 1 and ECON 2, ACCT 201 and ACCT 202 cover MGMT 1A and MGMT 1B, and MATH 140 (or 140E) with MATH 141 (or 141E) cover MATH 31A and MATH 31B.

What doesn't Palomar cover for UCLA Business Economics?

ECON 11 (Microeconomic Theory) and ECON 41 (Probability and Statistics for Economists) have no Palomar equivalent on this agreement, so both are finished at UCLA. Every other requirement is covered on campus.

Does MATH 140E count the same as MATH 140 for UCLA?

Yes. ASSIST accepts either MATH 140 or the enhanced MATH 140E for UCLA's MATH 31A, and either MATH 141 or MATH 141E for MATH 31B, so the enhanced track carries the same transfer credit.

What is the UCLA Business Economics transfer admit rate?

Across all transfer applicants, UCLA's 2025 admit rate for Business Economics was 10%; that figure isn't broken out by college. You need to apply directly into Pre-Business Economics or Pre-Economics, since UCLA won't let you switch into the major later.
