Five terms if you start below calculus

OCC's longest path runs MATH A070, A170, A180, A185, then A280: five semesters. Students ready for MATH A180 skip the first two and need three semesters.

    OCC semesters, UCSD quarters

UCSD runs calculus and accounting in quarters; OCC teaches the same requirements across semesters. Each OCC course in this agreement still stands in for a full UCSD course.

Common Mistakes for This Transfer Path

MATH A182H is listed twice, with prerequisites

ASSIST lists MATH A182H, Calculus 1 and 2 Honors, for both MATH 20A and MATH 20B. OCC lists its prerequisite as MATH A140 and MATH A180 and MATH A180H, so confirm you qualify before planning around it.

Calculus 3 needs two courses before it

MATH A280, which covers MATH 20C, requires MATH A185 or A185H first. Those, in turn, need MATH A180 or A180H, so plan three OCC courses in sequence.

ACCT A102 needs ACCT A101 first

OCC's managerial accounting course, which satisfies MGT 5, requires financial accounting, ACCT A101 or ACCT A101H, as its prerequisite. Take them in that order.

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

What classes transfer from OCC to UCSD business economics?

MATH A180, A185 and A280 for calculus (honors versions count too), ECON A170 or A175 for economics, and ACCT A101 with A102 for accounting. MATH A182H is also listed for MATH 20A and 20B.

What doesn't OCC cover for UCSD business economics?

ASSIST shows no OCC course for ECON 5, MGT 16 or MGT 71. Those three don't factor into screening, so you'll take them at UCSD once you've transferred.

What's the admit rate for UCSD business economics?

54% of 2025 transfer applicants were admitted, counted across all colleges sending students to the major, not OCC specifically. UCSD screens on the required prep courses and a 2.3 GPA across them.

Does OCC ECON A175 count for UCSD business economics?

Yes. ECON A175 is macroeconomics at OCC and matches UCSD's ECON 3. ECON A170, the microeconomics course, is the other accepted option, matching ECON 1.
