Common Mistakes for This Transfer Path
CS 2 alone counts, but needs CS 1
ASSIST accepts CS 1 and CS 2 together, or CS 2 by itself, for COM SCI 31. CS 2 lists CS 1 as its prerequisite, so plan on CS 1 first either way.
Multivariable calculus finishes in one semester
MATH 3 alone covers both MATH 32A and MATH 32B, so a single Las Positas course clears two of UCLA's quarter requirements. Register for MATH 3 once MATH 2 is done.
Physics rides on the calculus sequence
PHYS 1A needs MATH 1, PHYS 1B needs PHYS 1A and MATH 2, and PHYS 1C needs PHYS 1A and MATH 3. Keep calculus a term ahead so each physics course opens on time.

Which UCLA computer science courses have no Las Positas match?
Two: COM SCI 35L, the software construction lab, and the logic design requirement (COM SCI M51A or EC ENGR M16). Las Positas has no listed course for either. UCLA's by-spring list covers calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, physics and programming, and neither is on it, so they're taken at UCLA.
How hard is it to transfer into UCLA computer science?
UCLA admitted only 5% of all transfer applicants to Computer Science in 2025. Samueli Engineering also requires a 3.4 minimum transferable GPA and won't review a denied applicant for a second major.
Does Las Positas CS 1 transfer to UCLA?
Yes. Paired with CS 2 it satisfies COM SCI 31, and CS 1 alone also meets UCLA's separate programming-language requirement. UCLA prefers C++ for that requirement, and the agreement notes accept C and Java too.
