San Diego Mesa College to UCI
    Business Administration Transfer Plan

San Diego Mesa College has an ASSIST match for all eight UC Irvine Business Administration prep courses. The one to plan around is calculus, MATH 150 then MATH 151, which takes three semesters if you need MATH 141 first.

Three semesters of math from MATH 141

MATH 150 needs MATH 141 or MATH 15E, and MATH 151 needs MATH 150. From MATH 141 that's three semesters, so start math your first term at Mesa to finish MATH 151 by spring.

From Mesa semesters to UCI quarters

UCI is on quarters. Each Mesa course still stands in for one UCI course, like ACCT 116B for MGMT 30B, and your semester units count as 1.5 quarter units each at UCI.

    Watch Out

Common Mistakes for This Transfer Path

    Mesa's economics numbers run backwards

ECON 121 covers UCI's ECON 20A and ECON 120 covers ECON 20B, the reverse of what the numbers suggest. You need both either way, and neither has a prerequisite listed, so they fit well in your first year.

Pick a statistics course without extras

MGMT 7 accepts BUSE 115, STAT C1000, PSYC 258 or BIOL 200. BIOL 200 requires BIOL 107 first, so for a business major BUSE 115 or STAT C1000 is the shorter path.

BUSE 100 is optional before transfer

BUSE 100 matches UCI's MGMT 1, but ASSIST says MGMT 1 may be completed at UCI. The admission list is calculus, economics, statistics and accounting, so give those your Mesa units first.

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

What classes should I take at Mesa for UCI Business Administration?

MATH 150 and MATH 151, ECON 121 and ECON 120, one statistics course (BUSE 115, STAT C1000, PSYC 258 or BIOL 200), and ACCT 116A followed by ACCT 116B. BUSE 100 covers MGMT 1 if you want it done early.

Is anything for UCI Business Administration missing at Mesa?

No. Every one of the eight requirements has a Mesa course on ASSIST. UCI also accepts MGMT 4A-4B instead of ECON 20A-20B, but Mesa's ECON 121 and ECON 120 already satisfy ECON 20A and ECON 20B.

Does Mesa ACCT 116A transfer to UCI?

Yes, as MGMT 30A, and ACCT 116B transfers as MGMT 30B. ACCT 116B requires ACCT 116A, so schedule them in consecutive semesters and finish both by the spring before you transfer.

Is UCI Business Administration open to TAG from Mesa?

No, not for fall 2027. UCI admits to this major competitively: a 3.0 UC transferable GPA is the minimum, and the highest grades among students who complete the required prep by spring get preference.

    Related Transfer Plans

San Diego Mesa College students can complete the whole UC Irvine Business Administration prep list at Mesa. Calculus runs MATH 150 then MATH 151, economics is ECON 121 and ECON 120, accounting is ACCT 116A and ACCT 116B, and MGMT 7 statistics can come from BUSE 115 or STAT C1000. UCI's Merage School major has no TAG and admits on grades, so finishing all of it by spring matters. Transfermatic can turn these Mesa courses into a term-by-term plan.
