    Questions students ask

When can I sign up for spring 2027 classes at PVC?

Priority groups and continuing students: Monday, October 19, 2026. New and returning students (open registration): Sunday, November 1, 2026. Your exact time is the registration appointment shown in PVC’s student portal.

Why do some students get to register before me?

California's community colleges follow a registration order set by state rules (California Code of Regulations, Title 5, section 58108). Groups the law names come first, including active-duty military and veterans, current and former foster youth, and students in DSPS, EOPS or CalWORKs. Next are continuing students who have finished orientation, placement and an education plan with a counselor. PVC sets the exact order within those rules.

How do I get an earlier registration time at PVC?

Finish orientation, placement and an education plan with a counselor at PVC before registration opens, and stay in good academic standing. Students can lose priority after two terms in a row on academic or progress probation (some colleges now call it "notice"), or once they pass 100 degree-applicable units.

What if the class I need is full?

Join the waitlist if the section has one, and keep an eye on it through the first week: seats open up as students drop. Depending on the college, you are either added automatically or sent a permission number or add code that expires, so check your email. Going to the first class meeting matters, since instructors often add waitlisted students who show up.

When does the spring semester start at PVC?

Spring 2027 classes at PVC start Wednesday, January 20, 2027.

What's the last day to drop a class without a W at PVC?

For full-term spring 2027 classes, Tuesday, February 9, 2027. Shorter classes have earlier deadlines, listed with each class in the schedule. A W does not affect your GPA, but the units still count as attempted, so a pattern of them can affect progress standing and financial aid.
