    Description
The second semester of a one-year course in organic chemistry designed for students planning professional school studies in health and life sciences. Lecture emphasizes the physical properties, reactions, and reaction mechanisms of aromatic hydrocarbons; aldehydes and ketones; the preparation, reactions and identification of carboxylic acids and their derivatives; alkyl and acyl amines; beta- dicarbonyl compounds; and various classes of naturally occurring, biologically important compounds. Laboratory work reinforces topics covered in lecture including synthesis, isolation, chemical and spectroscopic analysis.
    Usually Held
