It includes an introduction to the history and principles of evolutionary theory; basic human genetics and molecular biology; the anatomy, behavior, and ecology of our closest living relatives, non-human primates; the evolution of the human lineage through the hominid fossil record; variation among modern human groups, past and present; and a brief introduction to forensic anthropology. Throughout the course, attention is paid to the complex interaction between biology, behavior, and culture.
