- Description
- A survey of American literature from its beginnings to 1865. Emphasis on writers of diverse backgrounds. Writers/texts may include Native American origin stories, European explorers, slave narratives, African American folk tales, Native American writers, and immigrant writers. Special attention will be paid to major literature genres, themes, and historical backgrounds.
