The course examines the debates on gender and analyzes the impact of social, economic, and political changes on gender expectations and practices. The course focuses on macro-analyses of how institutions shape gender and on micro-analyses of how individuals are socialized and how they "do" and practice gender. In the course, instructors equip students to examine historical, psychological, physiological, and/or sociological analysis of gendered dynamics, events, theories, and/or research.
