    Description
Prerequisite: ESLW 962RV. Advisory: It is strongly recommended that students enroll concurrently in ESLW 963GW and ESLW 963LS. This course emphasizes reading and vocabulary development for ESL students at an intermediate level. The course gives non-native speakers of English the opportunity to develop reading skills and increase their active vocabulary through adapted readings about real people, places, events, and ideas using the 3000 most common English words. Materials and discussions are designed to increase students' ability to analyze and summarize passages on familiar and unfamiliar topics, identify the main ideas and supporting details, and use reading strategies such as skimming, scanning, predicting, and identifying the organizational patterns.
