As an honors course, there is a focus on analytical writing and an emphasis on a higher degree of student participation and leadership in class discussions and other interactive teaching/learning techniques that are generally unsuitable for larger undergraduate classes. Introduction to Poetry is a representative study of poetic forms and poetry from around the world. Instructors guide students to explore poetry from a variety of angles, including terminology, form, performance, and composition. In addition to studying poets and movements, students also have the opportunity to perform poetry, create poems, and write at least one analytical essay. This course reflects the department's commitment to examine works from diverse perspectives and help students develop their authentic voices.Usually HeldMon Wed 10:55am–12:20pm, Tue Thu 12:30pm–1:55pm
