Topics include major trends in realism, naturalism, and modernism, and may be selected from major authors such as Edna St. Vincent Millay, Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, Sylvia Plath, John Dos Passos, William Carlos Williams, H.D., and Ralph Ellison.
