This course emphasizes literature outside the Anglo-American tradition. Students have the opportunity to analyze and compare texts representing various genres from different cultural regions, including Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and the Pacific Islands. Through this cross-cultural study of literature, students have the opportunity to engage in critical literary analyses, in global contexts, about intersectional issues such as gender, race, class, significant literary movements, power dynamics, and patterns of inequality.
