The history and development of theatre and drama are studied in relationship to cultural, political and social conditions of the time. Throughout history we can see how the theater changes in response to the changing needs and concerns of a given culture. Our goal for this course is to help students begin to understand and articulate the relationship between theater and society. Plays are read for analysis of structure, plot, character and historical relevance. (GE Areas - IGETC: 3A; CSU GE: C1)
