Students will learn about different methods of conceptualizing inquiry, framing and asking research question, and gathering evidence to answer these questions, including qualitative (e.g., semi-structured interviews, ethnographies, case studies), quantitative (e.g., correlation, experimental, descriptive, survey), and mixed methods. Lectures, readings, and assignments highlight norms for conducting and reporting different types of research that addresses important questions in the field of education, along with the ethics of conducting research in the social sciences more broadly.
