    Description
The NC060 Personal Care Aide course is designed to provide students, including those for whom English is a second language (ESL), with the essential skills and knowledge needed to become effective Personal Care Aides (PCAs). Throughout the course, students will learn the core responsibilities and ethical standards of direct care workers, explore effective communication and relationship-building techniques, and gain the skills necessary to perform safety-conscious, individualized personal care. The course also addresses infection control, nutritional assistance, and emergency response procedures, preparing students for real-world caregiving situations. Students will have opportunities to practice their skills in safe, supportive environments, ensuring that all learners, including ESL students, have the tools to understand and meet the expectations of care plans, safety standards, and consumer preferences.
