- Introduction to literature written by queer (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or gender non-conforming) writers: "Queerness" expressed in literature from 1945 to the present; literary analysis, including queer theory; gender and sexual identity, homophobia/transphobia, multiculturalism, and interpersonal relationships.
