    Description
    This course will introduce the student to the functions and responsibilities of the clinical laboratory assistant and phlebotomist in all clinical laboratory departments. Students will explore the importance of clinical laboratory safety, regulatory agencies, infection control policies, standard operating procedures, and professional communication. The student will also gain an understanding of medical terminology, the patient's bill of rights, pre-analytical evaluation of specimens, laboratory information, and data management systems. For clinicals ( PHLE 040 ): All Students must have current malpractice insurance, health clearance, TB test results, drug screen, and background check. Students must be 18 years of age prior to clinicals.
