    Machine Shorthand Theory 1 is the first of two machine shorthand theory courses in the VVC Court Reporting Program. Students will have the opportunity to learn the basic theory of machine stenography which is based on phonetics and sounds. They will have the opportunity to practice machine stenography and read back their steno notes. Non Course Requirement Minimum 45 words per minute typing speed on a standard keyboard. This typing certification can be obtained at VVC or equivalent agency. Per California Code Regulations Title 16 Section 2411(e)
