Emphasis is placed on the care and health promotion of patients with alterations in selected body functions, on normal growth and development, and on the promotion of healthy behavior in patients. Concepts of patient-centered care, family-centered care of children, cultural sensitivity, informatics, safe practice, and professionalism are integrated throughout the course.
