The course will span the political and cultural history of the Americas from Independence to the present. Emphasis is placed on understanding the divergent experiences of national development and the impact they have on the American population and on relationships with other countries in the American hemisphere. The course will also recount the social, political, and cultural experiences of Latinos in the United States.
