    Emphasizes the study of the African-American experience from African origins to the conclusion of the Civil War. Focuses on the Atlantic slave trade and slavery in the United States. Includes a study of the Constitution of the United States and the responsibilities of American citizenship. (Partially fulfills American Institutions requirement at CSU.)
