    Introduces the origins and development of African-American culture from its origins in West and Central Africa to its contemporary manifestations in the United States. Emphasizes the critical analysis of the historical, political, cultural and sociological aspects of the African-American experience in the arenas of family, politics, education, religion, and the arts.
