GPS provides possible course pathways to reach the destination of program completion World Languages World Languages Associate in Arts Program Description This program introduces the fundamentals of language learning (listening, speaking, reading, writing, and culture) with emphasis on language production, grammar, syntax, vocabulary acquisition, and exposure to the culture. This program provides study in more than one language. The Associate in Arts Degree can be obtained by completing a minimum of 22-units of coursework from 2-3 different languages with a minimum successful completion of ASL 002, FREN 002, and/or SPAN 002 from each language chosen. general education requirements, and electives as needed to complete a minimum of 60 units. All courses in the major must be completed with a minimum grade of C or a P if the course is taken on a Pass/No Pass basis. The coursework presents American Sign Language in a cross-cultural context, addressing the ethics and standards expected of a professional interpreter. The Certificate of Achievement can be obtained upon successful completion of the 27-unit major. The Associate in Arts can be obtained upon completion of the major, General Education, and electives as needed to complete a minimum of 60 units. All courses in the major must be completed with a minimum grade of C or a P if the course is taken on a Pass/No Pass basis. Program Outcomes Students who complete the ASL/English Interpreter Training Certificate of Achievement/Associate in Arts will be able to: 1.
