    minimum GPA of 3.3; a minimum of 5.0 units in the discipline with a minimum grade of B; an ability to work independently; permission of the School Dean based on instructor availability Independent study and research, by arrangement with the instructor, in specified fields of study in Spanish or creative writing in Spanish. The Spanish (Castilian) language has been a key instrument of imperialism. We will explore accompanying issues of power as they relate to race, ethnicity, class, gender, and language.
