    Description
    General Education: SCC: Area 3; Cal-GETC: Area 3B, Language other than English (LOTE) This course provides a general review of the Spanish language, as presented in SPAN 001, SPAN 002, and SPAN 003, and introduces students to cultural materials--poetry, short stories, documentaries, interviews, etc.--to focus on continued language acquisition through listening, speaking, reading and writing in authentic contexts. The course explores the cultural diversity of the Spanish-speaking world and promotes growth in cultural responsiveness while encouraging intermediate-level linguistic proficiency. This course is taught in Spanish. The Spanish (Castilian) language has been a key instrument of imperialism. We will explore accompanying issues of power as they relate to race, ethnicity, class, gender, and language. This course will be taught in Spanish. SPAN - Spanish
