The Spanish (Castilian) language has been a key instrument of imperialism. We will explore accompanying issues of power as they relate to race, ethnicity, class, gender, and language. NOTE: Not open to students who have completed SPAN 002S; SPAN 033 and/or 034; or SPAN 063M and/or 064M.
