    A comprehensive, hands-on introduction to photography, including camera operations, composition, concept, using photo software. Historical and contemporary photographers and genres will also be explored, including attention to issues of race and representation in the field of photography. The course will focus on digital cameras and processes, but there will be some content on film photography. This course is a prerequisite to the courses in the professional photography program. DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera, or a mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses, is required. Department has some cameras for loan to students who cannot supply their own camera. On campus students will have access to the digital lab. (formerly PHOT 070)
