    A continued application of the concepts of nursing practice presented in the NURS 071 series and NURS 072 series of courses and focuses on additional concepts for safe, humanistic, patient-centered care to a diverse patient population focusing on acute and chronic conditions of patients requiring mental health interventions. The focus of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing is to provide students opportunities to evaluate and address the biopsychosocial needs of the psychiatric patient. Application of knowledge and skills occurs in a variety of clinical settings with an emphasis on expanding the student's ability to focus on the legal and ethical responsibilities of the nurse, caring, critical thinking/clinical reasoning, the nursing process, quality improvement, communication, teamwork/collaboration, and evidence- based nursing practice. Internet and PC computer access with chrome web browser required in order to utilizes online NCLEX test preparation software, skills videos and to complete course materials utilizing word, excel and PDF documents. NURS - Nursing NURS 073S 1.0 Unit Nursing Simulation and Skills Lab III Builds on the content presented in NURS 071S-Nursing Skills Lab I and NURS 072S-Nursing Skills Lab II with a focus on developmentally and culturally appropriate therapeutic interventions in the care of patients with chronic medical and psychiatric conditions requiring medical/surgical and mental health interventions. Includes application of the concepts of caring, critical thinking, the nursing process, quality improvement, communication, teamwork/ collaboration, and evidence-based nursing practice. Application of knowledge and skills occurs in the nursing skills lab and the simulation lab. Internet and PC computer access with chrome web browser required in order to utilizes online NCLEX test preparation software, skills videos and to complete course materials utilizing word, excel and PDF documents.
