Aspects of melody, rhythm, harmony, tone, and structure are studied through focused listening of works from the Renaissance to contemporary styles of avant-garde and popular music. Attention will be paid to issues of racism, representation, and the power structures that exist in both past and current practices of music. This course requires no previous musical study. MUSC - Music MUSC 009 Wind Ensemble 1.0 Unit must demonstrate an adequate level of proficiency on an instrument to participate and perform with the wind ensemble General Education: SCC: Area 3 This course is the study and performance of wind ensemble repertoire.
