Transfers ToCSUDescriptionCourse Equivalent: KINE 505 The Fitness Center is an open entry/exit course to improve physical and mental health and wellness. During the range of open hours of the Center, and under the guidance of faculty, students will design and complete an individualized fitness program including cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility exercises. Wellness practices will be introduced to promote a reduction of stress and positive mental health. Injury prevention will be integrated through all aspects of physical and mental health and wellness. Each student must complete a mandatory orientation prior to participating in the Fitness Center. An open entry course that will include all aspects of a complete fitness center/program: muscle strength and endurance training, cardio-respiratory endurance training, flexibility training, and wellness techniques. Students will learn to design their own exercise programs to achieve their personal fitness goals, while attending during any open center hours KINE 006E Yoga - Beginning 1.0 Unit General Education: SCC: Local District Requirement - Health, Lifelong Learning, and Self Development Introduction to basic yoga postures, breathing practices, stretching, relaxation techniques as a method to improve flexibility, decrease stress, improve physical and mental well-being. UC limitation of credit: Maximum 4 elective units combined of Activity courses KINE - Kinesiology KINE 006F Yoga - Intermediate 1.0 Unit General Education: SCC: Local District Requirement - Health, Lifelong Learning, and Self Development Students will be exposed to intermediate postures. The class will build on the beginning yoga postures. These poses will focus on developing flow, energy, and strength. KINE 006X Pilates for Fitness - Beginning 1.0 Unit General Education: SCC: Local District Requirement - Health, Lifelong Learning, and Self Development A fitness course that utilizes Pilates techniques that can increase strength, flexibility and endurance. Pilates exercises can improve posture, alignment coordination, and balance. This course is targeted to improve core strength and overall fitness. KINE 006Y Pilates for Fitness - Intermediate 1.0 Unit General Education: SCC: Local District Requirement - Health, Lifelong Learning, and Self Development This intermediate level class is designed for individuals with previous Pilates experience. Students will improve overall movement fluidity, breathing techniques, kinesthetic awareness, proprioception, core strength and endurance while integrating the mind/body connection during movement based on the original techniques developed by Joseph H. Pilates.
