    Description
    Course Equivalent: ETHN 029 General Education: SCC: Area 3, Area 4, Area 6; Cal-GETC: Area 3B, Area 4 Survey of the political, social, and economic history of African Americans from Reconstruction (1865) to the present. An emphasis is placed on the transition of African Americans from slavery to freedom, segregation, migration and urbanization, black ideology and leadership, and African American protest movements of the twentieth century. The course will closely examine the role of African Americans in shaping the American nation.
