- General Education: SCC: Area 3; Cal-GETC: Area 3B A survey of literature written in the United States from the time of early settlement to the end of the Civil War. Through focus on significant works of diverse writers, attention is given to major literary movements and to understanding, comparing, and contrasting the diverse political, religious, social, and cultural elements of literature in the United States.
