    Description
An overview of major dance forms around the world—such as Hula, Flamenco, Ballet Folklorico, indigenous North American powwow dances, classical Indian styles, and more—and how they have been shaped by political, social, and cultural forces over their respective histories. Students will read, write, and watch videos to explore how these dance forms express and preserve cultural and spiritual values and adapt to the needs of new generations. NOTE: This course is not activity-based and is not applicable to the specific area requirement in Physical Education for the Associate Degree.
