    Study and practice of the communication involved in building and maintaining interpersonal relationships, and its theoretical significance in family, social, workplace and institutional settings. Topics include self-concept, perception, emotion, verbal and nonverbal communication, critical and active listening, conflict management, and the influence of such intersectional factors as sex, gender, race, and culture on these aspects and the formation and maintenance of one's identity. Students are expected to advance the current conversation in Interpersonal Theory by showcasing and applying skills in both individual and group presentations.
