Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course is designed to increase awareness of and competency in essential employability skills for today's dynamic workplace environment. These "soft skills," which are broadly applicable across job titles and industries, are designed to complement those obtained in both technical and general education programs. The goal of the course is to support student success in their work-based learning opportunities, including work-site learning, internships, and service-learning projects. The course will open with a review of the changing global economy, the rise of entrepreneurism, and how employability skills can increase students' competitiveness in the workplace. The course will then cover the top ten skills that have been identified to support career and college readiness. These include adaptability, analysis/solution mindset, collaboration, communication, digital fluency, entrepreneurial mindset, empathy, resilience, self-awareness, and social/diversity awareness. The course will close with sections transitioning to the workforce. This course may be offered in a distance education format. (CSU transferable)Usually HeldMon Tue Wed Thu 12:35pm–1:25pm
