Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis is one of the required courses for the Associate Degree Nursing program at Shasta College and one of two corequisite courses that comprise the second semester. Concepts of family, community, health promotion, illness prevention, teaching, cultural sensitivity, nursing process, and critical thinking are integrated into clinical practice. The emphasis of the course is on adult and geriatric medical-surgical clients with acute and/or chronic illness in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Knowledge and skills acquired in lecture-discussion and in simulation and skills laboratories are applied in medical-surgical settings.
