Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThe primary purpose of this course is to provide a consistent knowledge and skill base for the wildland fire investigator (INVF). The concepts taught in this course will help an INVF perform at an acceptable level on a national basis without regard to geographic boundaries. This course includes how to identify and collect equipment and supplies to conduct a wildfire investigation, record information about the fire, determine the origin of the fire, determine the cause of the fire, properly collect and preserve evidence, interview witnesses and obtain suspect information, prepare and write reports, and how to present testimony before a judge and/or jury.
