Each geomorphic province in California is defined by unique rock successions indicative of ancient and modern processes ranging from geologic hazards such as seismicity, volcanism, and mass wasting, to the tectonic assembly of California and associated economic resources. California's mountains reveal past glaciations, its modern and ancient shores, and its coastal processes through time; its dramatic deserts reveal over a billion years of geologic history. Topics such as these are among the several that this course will explore, along with basic principles of geology. This course may be offered in a distance education format. (CSU/UC transferable)
