Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course is an introduction to the natural processes that have shaped and continue to shape the Point Reyes National Seashore. It will cover topics of geology with specific reference to the Point Reyes National Seashore, such as the San Andreas Fault Zone and its hazards, the area as part of a translated terrane, its rocks as a record of that journey, and changes through time. Basic weather and climate science will be introduced using the national seashore's oceanographic qualities such as wave processes, coastal currents, and coastal upwelling as important local influences. A three-day overnight field trip to the national seashore is a major part of the corequisite lab course. This course may be offered in a distance education format. (CSU transferable)
