Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThe Sacramento River has forged a basin that cuts across northern California, carving into the eastern Klamaths and delivering water and sediment to the Great Valley floor, ultimately reaching the estuaries of the eastern Bay Area. Basin history and the significance of this river system are the focus of the course. Topics begin with basic concepts in geology, including river dynamics, but also the origin and evolution of the basin. Relationships to modern and indigenous societies are also considered, as well as current and future climate change impacts to the basin. This course may be offered in a distance education format.
