Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course will focus on early childhood education and children with special needs. Developmental, educational, and family issues related to children and youth with disabilities and giftedness will be presented. The course also provides an overview of special education as a professional discipline, including its history, laws, challenges, current trends, and issues. This course will explore different types of special needs identified in children including children who are: gifted, developmentally delayed, learning disabled, as well as children with: emotional and behavioral disorders, communication disorders, sensory disorders, neurological disorders, and health impairments. This course may be offered in a distance education format. (CSU transferable)
