    Description
This course is the second semester of a year of organic chemistry (continuation of Chemistry 280A). It includes units on structure elucidation, aromatic compounds, carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids and their derivatives, amines, and classes of biologically important compounds. More complex synthetic routes are explored. Laboratory work includes multi-step syntheses and unknown identification. Reaction mechanisms and use of spectroscopic techniques continue to be emphasized. This course is intended for science majors.
