Art and architecture from prehistoric Europe, Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Aegean, Greece, Etruria, and Rome will be presented in relation to the broader historical contexts in an effort to understand the way in which art can inform us about the lives of ancient people. We will examine the exchange of ideas between these cultures and consider the roles of tradition and innovation in the production of art.
