Transfers ToUC and CSUCal-GETC Area 3A · IGETC Area 3A · CSU GE Area C1DescriptionThis course introduces the fundamentals of the discipline of art history with a focus on how to view and appreciate art in an increasingly diverse world. A methodological introduction will be followed with a global survey of art from a variety of media from prehistoric times through the 16th century that highlights worldwide artistic trends and achievements. We will consider the historical, cultural, religious, and political contexts of a work of art as well as its production and reception. Archaeological and anthropological concepts will be discussed in relation to the works presented.
