    Cal-GETC Area 3B (Humanities) This course surveys East Asian history to 1600, tracing the rise of classical Chinese civilization and the subsequent dispersion of this culture to Korea and Japan. Addressing the connections, convergences, and divergences in the histories of China, Japan, and Korea, it examines such topics as the earliest state-formations and the emergence and maturation of market economies and popular cultures prior to the modern era.
