Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course allows students to practice the skills needed to provide direct patient care with an emphasis on the elderly population. An overview of the basic care and psychosocial skills are provided. Students participate in hands on exercises to demonstrate competence in safety/infection control, assessment skills, basic medical terminology, urgent care situations, HIPAA and customer service. Students also examine the best strategies to serve patients that are aging, have dementia, mental illness, and developmental disabilities.
