    This course introduces students to the interdisciplinary field of Native American Studies and to the experiences and expressions of Indigenous communities primarily in the United States of America. The course explores historical and contemporary topics important to Native American tribal nations, including their cultures, philosophies, creative expressions, and lived experiences, emphasizing Native American voices and perspectives. The course will cover subjects that may include the racialization of Native Americans, the acknowledgment of treaty rights and sovereignty, traditional ecological knowledge, the role Native Americans have played in U.S. history, and contemporary challenges.
