- *UC unit limitation for ESL 11B, 21A, 21B, 19A, and 19B is 8 units. This advanced course helps English language learners refine their communication skills with an emphasis on reading, writing, and critical thinking in a multicultural setting. Students compose multi-paragraph essays that integrate source materials and use advanced grammar and vocabulary.
